Eloroth

Now that you know a bit about me, I'm going to use this opportunity to tell you a bit about my pets, in backwards chronological order. (confused yet?) The most recent pet I got was a dragon. Yes, you heard right -- I got little Eloroth from Neopets. It is such a cute little site. You can have all sorts of different pets and you don't have to pay any money. bfl

Next most recent pets are my rats, Dawn and Eve. They are such sweeties. I actually got them because I intended to bread them with my two male rats, Atolykos and Telemakhos, who I had bought on my birthday the same year. The girls turned out to be a slightly smaller variety, so it was too dangerous to breed them, but that turned out for the best because I wouldn't have been able to take care of them when I left for college. You can read all about my rats on their own webpage.

Cricket

Cricket and Kate

My youngest dog is Cricket. She's a Pomeranian / Border Collie cross, or a "party-pom" as my aunt likes to say. She adopted me during my visit to Montana in August 1998, around the same time I found my road toad, Lucky. (Disclaimer: That page is a joke, please don't click if you can't take a joke.) Cricket was abandoned by some horrible person and at that time all the animal shelters in Montana were kill facilities so I ended up bringing her into the family. I love her terribly, but I know it was not the best thing to do. She and my older dog, Taffy, started fighting almost immediately. Taffy was not as happy about the new puppy as I was. Cricket loves the snow.

Before I got Cricket I had two rats. The younger one was Spryte, who I had bought to keep Gizmo company. Gizmo (named after the Gremlin who would eat anything) was rescued from a snake by a friend of a friend and just landed in my lap against my wishes. I had a horrible phobia of rodents (long story of a childhood experience) and it took me weeks before I would hold her without gloves. Her charming personality forced me to accept and love her. Gizmo must be the smartest and most affectionate rat I've ever known. Every time I picked her up she'd lick my fingers just like a dog does. I think it has to do with being dropper-fed by humans when she was too young yet to be weened. I miss her terribly... I wrote a poem about her which I will put here as soon as possible. taffy

taffy

Taffy is a poodle, like all the other (planned) family dogs. She was born on March 25, 1992. She was the runt of the litter and it shows! She thinks she's the boss of everyone. Even when she was a baby she drove my sister's dog, Muffin, nuts. Muffin was amazingly tolerant though, even when she hung from his ear during play.

I can't remember when my sister got Muffin.. I think it was early 1991 because the dogs are slightly less than 2 years apart. I think she named him Muffin because he was such a raggamuffin (still is). I think my mom got Bonnie sometime in 1988. It was so long ago it feels like she's always been here. She is such a smart dog too. I don't think I've ever met a dog as smart as she is. I love my Taffy, but man is she a ditz, and Cricket is too hyper to hold still long enough to think. As you can see in this picture, Bonnie is a Patriots fan. Well.. someone has to be! ;)
